Kirtan gathering Oct 2017

Here’s the list and lyrics for the Kirtan/Chanting gathering on Oct 8, 2017

1) Sa Re Sa Sa, Sa Re Sa Sa,
Sa Re Sa Sa, Sa Rung
Hara Re Hara Hara, Hara Re Hara Hara,
Hara Re Hara Hara, Hara Rung

This is the base mantra of all mantras. It is said that this mantra was spoken before any others because it gives mastery over the spoken word. This mantra helps you conquer the wisdom of the past, present, and future. It brings you peace and prosperity even if it wasn’t in your destiny.
Translation is:
That Infinite Totality is here, everywhere. That creativity of God is here, everywhere.

Adversity melts before this mantra. This mantra takes away negativity from within oneself awakening the Infinite Creative energy to burn away obstacles to achieving higher consciousness.
Sa is the Infinite, the Totality, God. It is the element of ether. It is the origin, the beginning, and it contains all other effects. It is subtle and beyond.

Har is the creativity of the Earth. It is the dense element, the power of manifestation, the tangible, the personal. These sounds are woven together and then projected through the sound of ung or complete Totality.

2) Sat Narayan Wahe Guru
Hari Narayan Sat Nam

Sat Narayan is True Sustainer,
Wahe Guru is indescribable Wisdom,
Hari Narayan is creative sustenance
Sat Nam is True Identity.

Go with the flow. Allow the sacred current of your thoughts to ebb and flow with your breath. Feel your love flow like river into all the hidden chambers of your heart. Let this mantra glide over your tongue. “Sat Narayan” connects you to the water element and helps you go with the flow of your life.

The more we can relax and allow ourselves to be in a state of non-resistance, the greater inner peace we can find within ourselves. From that state of inner peace, we can project outward peace, happiness, and good fortune.
To chant this mantra for inner peace, you can sit in easy pose with your hands in gyan mudra (thumbs and forefingers touching).

3) Sh’ma Yisrael,
Adonai Eloheinu
Adonai Echad
Baruch shem kavod malchuto
L’olam vaed

Hear, O Israel: the LORD is our God, the LORD is One.
Blessed be His glorious name.
His Kingdom is forever and ever.

6)God be with you till we meet again;
By His counsels guide, uphold you,
With His sheep securely fold you;
God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you till we meet again;
Neath His wings protecting hide you;
Daily manna still provide you;
God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you til we meet again.
When life’s perils thick confound you
Put his arms unfailing round you

Lyrics for June 26 Kirtan

Here’s the lyrics for the Idaho Yoga Co op Kirtan on Sunday Jun 26:

1) Lokah Samasta Sukino Bhavantu – May all beings be happy

2) 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd, I have all I need,
She makes me lie down in green meadows,
Beside the still waters, She will lead.

She restores my soul, She rights my wrongs,
She leads me in a path of good things,
And fills my heart with songs.

Even though I walk, through a dark & dreary land,
There is nothing that can shake me,
She has said She won’t forsake me,
I’m in her hand.

She sets a table before me, in the presence of my foes,
She anoints my head with oil,
And my cup overflows.

Surely, surely goodness & kindness will follow me,
All the days of my life,
And I will live in her house,
Forever, forever & ever.

Glory be to our Mother, & Daughter,
And to the Holy of Holies,
As it was in the beginning, is now & ever shall be,
World, without end. Amen

3)W/Kids: Ging gang goolie goolie goolie goolie watcha,
Hayla, hayla shayla, hayla shayla, shayla, oooh.

4) Siyahamba ekukhanyeni kwenkos yoyo’
Standing in the light of Peace

5) Gayatri Mantra:
Om bhur bhuvah svah
tat savitur varenyam
bhargo devasya dhimahi
dhiyo yonah prachodayat

6) God be with you till we meet again;
By His counsels guide, uphold you,
With His sheep securely fold you;
God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you till we meet again;
Neath His wings protecting hide you;
Daily manna still provide you;
God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you til we meet again.
When life’s perils thick confound you
Put his arms unfailing round you

Learning New Stars: Capella

When I look towards the North, low in the sky is another twinkly orange-white star and its called Capella.  It’s in the constellation called Auriga.

The character is a nanny goat or a charioteer.  I’ll add some mythology about this star as I find them.

Learning New Stars: Arcturus

Here in the fall, I plan on getting outside and learn the names of the brightest stars in the sky.
Out of my front door, the first star I can see is a twinkly orange-white star low in the sky.  It is called Arcturus.

Fall Equinox, Kali, and birth

A new project I want to explore this year is to enjoy the procession of the sun, moon and stars and find the stories, myths and symbolism behind them. I will preference the stories from the Bible and Hindu mythology since those interest me most.

Today is the Fall equinox and that means the sun is entering a time of increasing darkness. This one day is the day of equal balance and then for the next 3 months, the darkness increases a little bit each day.

Indra’s net

The story and some links about Indra’s net.
A traditional Buddhist and Hindu story.

Far, far away, in the abode of the great god Indra, king of heaven, hangs a wondrous vast net, much like a spider’s web in intricacy and loveliness. It stretches out indefinitely in all directions. At each node, or crossing point, of the net hangs a single glittering jewel.

Resisting redemption and deliverance of the captive soul

A rich, nourishing and delightful On Being Podcast is the catalyst for this deeper examination of the Biblical story of Moses and the Exodus.

Moses’ call and mission with the Exodus can be viewed as a symbolic look of how we collectively as mortals resist, refuse and fight God’s invitation to liberation.
